Every grade undergoes regular laboratory testing in several independent laboratories.
What we test
Every batch undergoes comprehensive laboratory screening.
Screening of 600+ pesticide substances by GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS. We analyse herbicides, insecticides, fungicides and more.
Analysis of cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), arsenic (As) and chromium (Cr) by ICP-MS and ICP-OES.
We test for E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria, Bacillus cereus, yeasts and moulds.
We measure caesium-134, caesium-137 and iodine-131. Important for Japanese products after Fukushima 2011.
We measure caffeine content (mg/g) and the catechin profile including EGCG — the key antioxidant.
Japan vs. China
In 2022 we ran independent comparative tests of our Japanese matcha against three samples of Chinese matcha available on the European market. The results show dramatic differences in safety and quality.
